So I got rear-ended a few days ago and the other driver's insurance just called me with a $2,500 'pain and suffering' offer. My car isn't too bad, but my neck has been feeling pretty stiff and I’ve already missed a couple days of work. My friend keeps telling me to call a personal injury lawyer before I sign anything, but I'm worried they'll just take a huge cut of the money and I'll end up with less than what I started with. Has anyone actually gotten a significantly better payout by using an attorney, or should I just take the check and move on?
